There have been many variations of the name in the last 1000 years – and Stonehenge, The Henge, still stands… These ancient, rough hewn stones raised on Salisbury Plain some 4500 years agocontinue to holkd their mystery. In dusk light they cast long, strong shadows, a fitting subject for texture and colour.

In this close up interpretation the stones are fittingly sculpted in plaster medium, built up in relief and washed in shades of gold, yellow and soft pink. Strong turquoise and ultramarine shadows fall across their surfaces. Set against a surreal sky, the work moves beyond monument into atmosphere, endurance, light and time…
